Autumn term By the autumn term, Year 5 children are usually working on numbers to a million, rounding and negative numbers, written and mental addition and subtraction, reading graphs and tables, and area and perimeter. Spring term By the spring term, Year 5 children are usually working on factors, multiples, primes, squares and cubes, long multiplication and short division, fractions, and the start of percentages. Summer term now By the summer term, Year 5 children are usually working on decimals to three places, converting measures, volume, angles, the properties of shapes, and reflecting and translating shapes.
