A brighter way to learn

Year 6

Multiplication and Division

Year 6 is where the written methods really come together. Children multiply four-digit numbers by two-digit numbers using long multiplication, and divide four-digit numbers by two-digit numbers using long division, learning to handle the remainder by writing it as a fraction, as a decimal, or by rounding to suit the question.

Practise Multiplication and Division

Have a guess, even if you're not sure. Get one wrong and we'll show you why, so every miss is a chance to learn.

Timed practice

The same practice, just with a gentle clock. Pick a length and see how many you can answer.

Alongside the big methods, they keep short division sharp, use mental strategies to work out facts quickly, and explore how numbers fit together: common factors and the highest common factor, common multiples and the lowest common multiple, and breaking a number down into its prime factors.

Every quiz is multiple choice with instant feedback, and a plain-English hint appears whenever an answer is wrong, so a slip becomes something to learn from. It is free, there is no account to set up, and it runs in any web browser on a phone, tablet or computer.
