What the map shows
19 fractions, each asked three ways: as a fraction, a decimal and a percentage.
- Right Any equal fraction counts: 6/8 is right for 3/4.
- Not yet Wrong, or skipped. The square still shows the right answer.
No clock, and nothing is marked until the end.
Fractions, decimals and percentages in Years 5 and 6
- Year 5: halves, quarters, fifths, tenths and 1/100, such as 1/4 = 0.25 = 25%.
- Year 6 adds eighths, such as 1/8 = 0.125 = 12.5%, and 1/20, 1/25 and 1/50.
Many schools send these home as key instant recall facts (KIRFs), and every school's list is a little different. Thirds are left out: their decimal never ends.
How to use it
- Do the whole map, or one part. Or press "Print a blank map" to do it on paper, with the answers on a second sheet.
- Press "Practise the not-yet ones" to try up to 12 again. Squares turn green as they get them right.
- Print it. Every square shows its answer, so it doubles as a chart.
- Make a new map in a few weeks to compare.
Nothing is sent anywhere
The answers stay in this browser tab and are never sent to us. Close the tab and the map is gone.
"Save this map" makes a link with the map written into it, to email or message to yourself. We never see it.
