Autumn term By the autumn term, Year 3 children are usually working on place value to 1000, reading and comparing numbers, adding and subtracting numbers up to three digits, and starting the 3, 4 and 8 times tables. Spring term By the spring term, Year 3 children are usually working on multiplication and division within the 3, 4 and 8 times tables, understanding fractions and equivalent fractions, measuring length, mass and capacity, and finding the perimeter of a shape. Summer term By the summer term, Year 3 children are usually working on fractions of a set of objects, adding and subtracting fractions, money and telling the time, the properties of 2-D and 3-D shapes, lines and angles, and reading charts.
