Answers: Times tables and division

AnswersYear 3Sheet V7
  1. 120
  2. 15
  3. 7
  4. 212
  5. 12
  6. 12
  7. 64
  8. 240
  9. 198
  10. 12

How to work them out

  1. Start from the small fact you already know. Making it ten times bigger makes every digit worth ten times as much, so each one moves one place to the left and a zero fills the empty column. So the answer is 120.

  2. Count up in 3s, or recall the 3 times table. 3 × 5 = 15.

  3. Use your 4 times table. 4 × 7 = 28, so 28 ÷ 4 = 7.

  4. Start with the ones: 3 × 4 = 12. Now the tens: 50 × 4 = 200. Add both parts together. If the ones made a new ten, count it in too: 53 × 4 = 212.

  5. The gold paper chain is 2 lots of the red paper chain. So split 24 rings into 2 equal parts. 24 ÷ 2 = 12, so the red paper chain has 12 rings.

  6. The yellow tower is 3 lots of the blue tower. So split 36 cubes into 3 equal parts. 36 ÷ 3 = 12, so the blue tower has 12 cubes.

  7. Count up in 8s, or recall the 8 times table. 8 × 8 = 64.

  8. Start from the small fact you already know. Making it ten times bigger makes every digit worth ten times as much, so each one moves one place to the left and a zero fills the empty column. So the answer is 240.

  9. Start with the ones: 3 × 6 = 18. Now the tens: 30 × 6 = 180. Add both parts together. If the ones made a new ten, count it in too: 33 × 6 = 198.

  10. Ask what number times 3 makes 36. 3 × 12 = 36, so 36 ÷ 3 = 12.

For grown-ups

How the worksheet works

Each sheet has ten questions. The first three are a warm-up, the middle four are the core of the topic and the last three are a stretch. There is room under each question to work it out, and a box for the answer. Where a question only works with its choices in front of you, the choices are printed and your child circles one.

The answers start on a new sheet, so you can keep them to one side. Each one comes with a way to work it out. The mark at the foot of the questions matches the mark on the answers.

Nothing is saved and nothing needs signing in to. Print as many as you like: New questions gives you a new sheet each time.

What the questions cover

Rather practise on screen? Year 3 times tables and division practice marks every answer as it goes and gets harder as your child gets them right.
